How We Recognize Student Accomplishments on Social Media
August 11, 2016

Each year at this time each year we try and explain what events the school district covers on social media.

Our #1 goal is to highlight as many students and activities as possible.

Some events are easier to cover than others. These are normally the high school sports that are covered by the Champaign News-Gazette or the Decatur Herald & Review.

These are even easier when our students are playing in a state series: regionals, sectionals, supersectionals, etc. Middle School sports don't always get this kind of outside coverage.

For some extracurriculars, we need more help with scores/pictures. We have so much going on at one time, it can be a challenge to cover multiple activities on the same night. Often times our high school girls' extracurriculars are scheduled on the same night as junior high activities. This is just one example of a possible conflict.

Come spring, we may have baseball, softball, HS track and EP track all competing somewhere at the exact same time.

We rely on a host of people to help with tournament updates, scores and pictures. These are everyone from our tech department to athletic directors to administrators to coaches and parents.

Sometimes we even get updates from other schools which is always wonderful to see.

All help is appreciated! If you have a son or daughter on any team or activity, we would appreciate updates.

Starting this fall, it is our hope to have a parent volunteer for each team who will help us tweet out halftime and final scores. So far, we have cross country and freshman football covered.

We find more and more people rely on our social media updates when they can't attend a game or activity in person.

We also like to give attention to art, scholastic bowl, cheerleading, dance, the play and musical, and all of the other extracurriculars.

We've enjoyed our special projects like "360 in the 301" and "Where in the World are the Warriors", so we hope to build upon these as we go forward.

As always, we thank everyone for their interest in the district and our students.

We really do enjoy recognizing so many of our students.
