Scholarships:

Elks National Foundation: The “Most Valuable Student Scholarship” is for any high school senior that is a U.S. citizen.  These awards are given to students that are at or near the top of their class; active in school and community activities; are recognized by their peers as leaders; and need financial assistance to attend college.  These online scholarships are due before or on November 27, 2017 To submit the application visit: www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm. Click on the 2018 MVS application link and enter your email address to register.  

Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative- EIEC has announced that ten scholarships, of $2,000 each, will be awarded in 2018 through the Thomas H. Moore IllinoisElectric Cooperatives (IEC) Memorial Scholarship Program. Five scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who are the sons or daughters of an Illinois electric cooperative member receiving service from the cooperative. Applications are available at https://aiec.coop/iec-memorial-scholarship-official-rules/ and are due December 31st, 2017.

National Wild Turkey Federation- The NWTF is again offering the Dr. James Earl Kennamer Academic Scholarship to a graduating senior. Applicants must be a current member of the NWTF. Applications are available in the Core and are due January 1st, 2018.

Announcements:

Extra 2016-2017 yearbooks are now for sale.  Cost is $40.  See Mrs. Hoel to purchase.

Next week is National Red Ribbon Week.  Tuscola SADD is sponsoring activities here at the high school to help promote positive life choices and to remain drug and bully free.  Each day next week will have a theme associated with Red Ribbon Week.  On Monday the theme is "Team Up Against Drugs" and you are to wear clothes that represent your favorite team.  

Girls basketball will have a meeting Sunday, October 22 at 7:00 following open gym at 6:00. Meeting will be in study hall. Parents are encouraged to attend. 

FCA huddle meeting WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25 at First Christian Church from 7-8:30. If you have any questions please contact Ellen Brown or Olivia Chester

Basketball cheerleader tryouts will be held on Wed, October 25th and Thur, October 26th from 6-7:30 PM at the HS gym.

The FCCLA Fall Party will be held Wed, Oct. 25th from 6-8pm in the FCS room. Pizza will be provided & we encourage members to bring a dessert to share if they'd like. FCCLA is also accepting fleece donations for our October service project of tie blankets which will be donated to the Mills Breast Cancer Institute in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Any junior or senior that is interested in attending Theatre Festival in January needs to see Mrs. Steffens for more information. Forms and signed medical releases will be due back to her by Wednesday, October 25th.

The October FBLA meeting will be held next Wednesday, October 25th during lunch in the study hall room.  All FBLA members and anyone still interested in joining should plan to attend.

Reminder this Friday, 10/20Football players will have their senior night before the game. Cheer, XC, & Golf are at halftime.

All freshmen football players remember to turn in $10 TODAY to either Cassie Hardwick in Mrs. Rominger's room at school or take it to the dinner THIS evening.
