Horatio Alger Scholarship: Any senior planning to attend college next year who has financial need is eligible to apply. Scholarships range from $10,000-$50,000. Applications are available atscholars.horatioalger.org and are due October 25, 2020.

 

-Central Illinois Builders--Industry Advancement Foundation: The Foundation is happy to announce two scholarships ($2,500) that are open to students studying construction management or engineering, attend Bradley University, University of Illinois, Illinois State or a student whose home residence is in Central Illinois. The scholarship applications are available at https://app.smarterselect.com/programs/65024-Agc-Education-And-Research-Foundation and are due November 1st, 2020.

Calling All Talent!

We are planning a school wide virtual talent show during our September Spirit Week. Please record your talent and email your recording to Mrs. Steffens or Mrs. Holmes. We will compile the recordings for the school to watch and vote on a winner. Be creative, but keep it appropriate. Ideas include, but are not limited to: singing, playing an instrument, dancing, juggling, drawing, or anything you can think of that would entertain us. All recordings must be submitted by TODAY.. We are excited to showcase your talents!

 

Remote students, we would love for you to participate in our dress up days. Please send your selfies to Ms. Holmes This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

 

***Remote learners will have their picture taken on September 21 starting at 2 pm.  Freshman and Sophomores please start coming at 2:00 and Juniors and Seniors please start coming 

around 2:45 or 3:00.  Same picture code as above.

 

On Wednesday, September 23 please wear yellow and gray as September is National Suicide Prevention & Awareness month.  Remember someone is always there for you!

TCHS is going to start a Student-Advisory Council.  What is the Student-Advisory Council?  Well, it will be a group of students who are natural leaders who will gather together to make Tuscola High School a better place.  Our goal will be to improve all aspects of a TCHS student's high school experience.  If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, you will need to please email Mr. Fiscus a one paragraph (minimum) statement on why you want to be in the group, and what your talents and character traits will bring to the group. Please put "Student Advisory" in the subject line.

We will have monthly meetings to discuss what's going on at the school, what projects we might undertake, and how we can improve things here at TCHS. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, please email me by October 2nd.

The Libman Company in Arcola is now hiring high school students for part time flexible hours around your school schedule with some weekend opportunities. You must be 16 years old. Starting pay is $13 per hour. Apply online at https://libman.com/ and click on Careers. 

 

The Pass Program is an after school program at the Tuscola United Methodist Church. We are looking for a high school student to volunteer who loves children and may be interested in a career in teaching or interested in a child development experience. Please see Mr. Bozarth for more information.

Thursday - Multiplies Day - Get with your friends and dress alike

Arcola High School Principal Lisa Sigrist is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.  On Thursday, all Douglas County high schools will be encouraging their students and staff to wear purple to show our support for Mrs. Sigrist.  We will take a picture of everyone at some point during the day. Let's show our support and everyone participate!
